engineerd.

Okay, so, relaxing this evening watching another episode of "Friends". It happens to be the Halloween episode with Ursula's fiance. Anyhow, Monica's Catwomen, Chandler's a Pink Rabbit, Pheobe is Super Girl, Joey's Chandler, and Ross comes as a Spud with antenna. They ask him what he is and he says, "... you know the Russian ... Spuknik, well I am a Spud with antenna, Spud-nik!". They didn't get it, but me I totally get it. That's an awesome costume. Clearly, I am engineerd.

yay! another great Saturday morning.

Well, it was another surfing Saturday. I had a blast, I am glad I went. Check my Althletic Blog for more details. Right now, I am pretty jazzed about going camping in like 4 hours! uh oh. i better start packing! laterz.

relief.

Indescribable sense of relief. Could it be that 3-page paper I've been putting off, or the fact that I decided to complete the final four weeks of my final class for my grad degree, or the last half hour I spent watching Oprah with Billy Crystal and Kurt Russell. I think its the combination of above, as well as the good dose of laughter my roommate and I enjoyed as we watched Billy Crystal share with Oprah.

Well, I feel really good, and amazingly relaxed... rest is now called for as I have my next surf lesson later this morning. I am so stoked for this weekend, surfing today, camping for the rest of the weekend, this is going to be amazing!

His timing.

We can do all we want, but we would probably never really understand and sometimes fight to agree to or adhere to the Lord's timing of things in our lives. There is a balance of being active in seeking what He has in store for us and being still, listening. Sometimes you need to be active and doing, and sometimes being still and listening is exactly what you need to be doing. I guess, the best that you can do is be in prayer, and ask for direction and for the Lord to lead you. In his time, He will fulfill your needs. (Isa. 58:11).

evening stroll.

so, today was game #2 in the Laker vs. (who are they playing?) for the NBA finals. Anyhow, some folks for a friend's church were meeting up at a beach bar/resturant in my neighborhood for dinner and the watch the game. I decided to walk there, because I didn't think it would be worth the effort to drive the car to a location that is less than a mile away. Just over the hill, towards the beach. The stroll was nice and a great opportunity for me to be outdoors, since the past few days has been quite hectic and stressful at work.

The place is called, The Shack, they serve burgers and some grilled sandwiches. Its a nice place, its sort of like a chain, as they have them in Hawaii and Colorado. So I arrive, and walk to the back to find my friends, passing groups of people, strangely, I thought I heard someone calling my name, but didn't see anyone I recognized. I sat with my friends and they said you had to order from the front, so I walked back to the front, and again, I heard my name, but didn't pay too much attention. A few moments later, after I walked back to the table my friends were at, I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was my co-worker and network friend, Dave. I guess he is part of The Shack's franchise of sorts, partnering owner of four other locations (not including the one in Playa Del Rey). I know I had heard him talking about setting up A/V stuff (as this place has TVs all over the place) as well as sound at different locations. I thought that was cool to see him there, and I think he was happy to seem me out and about, relaxing.

The Game.
Okay, my intention was just to eat dinner and hang out for a bit, but then come home to study or do work stuff (as I am swamped). But I ended up staying (which is a good thing) because watching this game, with the people there, made it exciting and nerve racking, the was a glimmer of hope when Shaq made his freethrough, but until Bryant hit the 3-pt shot to tie the game and put them into OT, folks were on edge because the Laker's went from ahead by 10 to being down.
The OT plays were cool and being in the room with all that energy was nice and different and a definitely distraction (which my friend Keith totally says I need) from work!

work.

Its been one of those days, where you think you can't really get more work to do and then it happens, you end up with more work on top of the work you can't possibly finish before going on that get-a-way camping trip that has finally been planned. Well, maybe it can all be done, just need to get down to business and start working and stop complaining!

relaxed.

i don't blog for like four months and now i am a fountain of comments. anyhow, i am fairly relaxed right now, its been a while since i have been in this state. of course it is like 2:30am on a worknight. i guess i just don't feel like getting up from the family room floor and going to bed. okay, maybe i should go to sleep now...

mexico.

looks like i'll be going down to mexico at the end of june with folks from my church conference. so the schedule is pretty laid back, most of it relationship building with the community down there. one of the days on the trip is a free day, where we're going to the beach. the trip leader is a surfer, so we are taking boards down. we're hoping that the community folks will join us at the beach and we can all hang out together. i am so stoked!

It's been a while...

It's been a super long time since I last blogged. Sometimes, especially lately, I feel like I am always on the computer, work then school work. Work has been a bit crazed the past few weeks, trying to resolve a number of customer issues. I am glad that some folks from another organization can loan in some time to help me get my work done.

School is almost done, this current class ends in like two days. Then one more six week course and I am done with my credits for a Masters in Computer Information Systems. The last three months, I have been doubling up with courses, taking two at a time, which meant, way too much time spent in front of a computer terminal. Anyhow, I will be very glad when I am done, means more time to do other things.

On an adventure note, I've accomplished quite a bit the last few weeks, my first triathlon was almost two months ago, I finished. It was a blast and a nice weekend to get away. Camping out with some awesome camp neighbors was really nice. They fed me some of their extra food, and the encouragement was nice especially with all my nervousness. Work unfornuately came along as well... in terms of cell phone. But the coverage was really bad, plus the boss guy didn't call back after I had called him on Friday which was good.

Also, I tried surfing the past Memorial weekend. The original plan was to go fish in the eastern sierras (the "annual june lake" trip), but when that appeared to fall through because of work related stress and plain work, I ended up signing up for surf lessons. So, Chris, one of the project managers I work with, has been encouraging me and getting me excited for surfing. I signed up, and went to class Saturday morning, I was stoked to go. Got into the water and caught my first wave, sorta. I didn't quite get standing on the board when I fell off, rolling my foot in the shallow water on the sand. Felt a twinge in the foot, but kept on trying to catch those waves (at least until the lesson was suppose to be over). It was fun (didn't realize how heavy those boards are). There is a Beach Boys song that has the lyrics, "...Catch a wave and your sitting on top of the world...." That is surely how it feels, its pretty cool to be on the board, riding a wave.
Anyhow, back to that foot, it has now been about 2 hours after the lesson, and after lunch, I got up from the couch, and my foot was really sore, I couldn't put my full weight on it. I was like, uh oh! A few hours later, after a visit to the ER, it was determined, I sprained my foot! So the start of a three day holiday, beautiful, sunny weekend, I am on crutches. Oh well. Its now Wednesday, the foot is still fairly swollen and I am taking the crutches to work, I hope it heals up because I want to get back out on the water!

... Catch a wave and your sitting on top of the World ...
